Interactive Investor Fees (2026) – ISA Charges & Platform Costs Explained

By InvestCompareUK Editorial 📖 5 min read Part of the Interactive Investor Review

Interactive Investor uses a flat-fee pricing model. That can make it excellent value for larger portfolios and poor value for smaller ones. This page breaks down Interactive Investor's current ISA charges, trading fees and total platform costs so you can decide whether it actually makes financial sense for your portfolio size.

Interactive Investor now uses three main price plans: Core, Plus and Premium. The key point is that pricing is based on a flat monthly subscription, not a percentage of your portfolio.

That means your cost does not rise in line with your portfolio in the same way it does on percentage-fee platforms. If your portfolio is small, that fixed fee is a drag. If your portfolio is larger, it can become very competitive.

ℹ️ Simple rule: Interactive Investor gets better as your portfolio gets bigger. That is why it is often a poor fit for small balances and a strong fit for mid-size and larger ISA portfolios.

For most ISA investors, the real costs to pay attention to are the monthly plan fee, any trading charges, and the FX fee if you buy overseas shares. If you invest monthly through ii's regular investing service, that part is now free.

⚠️ Do not look only at the monthly fee. If you trade international shares frequently, FX charges can matter more than the headline platform fee.

The Core plan costs £71.88 per year. That fixed cost becomes more attractive as your portfolio grows. Below is the effective cost at different portfolio sizes.

Portfolio SizeCore Annual CostEffective % Cost0.25% Platform CostVerdict
£5,000£71.881.44%£12.50❌ Poor value
£10,000£71.880.72%£25.00❌ Still expensive
£25,000£71.880.29%£62.50➡️ Starting to make sense
£50,000£71.880.14%£125.00✓ Strong value
£100,000£71.880.07%£250.00✓ Excellent value
💡 Blunt answer: below roughly £20,000, Interactive Investor is usually the wrong cost choice. From around £25,000 upward, it becomes more defensible. At £50,000+ it becomes genuinely competitive for a full-service ISA platform.

This is the comparison that matters. Flat-fee platforms and percentage-fee platforms suit different portfolio sizes.

PlatformFee Model£20,000 Portfolio£100,000 PortfolioBest For
Interactive Investor Core£5.99/month flat£71.88/year£71.88/yearLarger portfolios
AJ Bell0.25%/year£50/year£250/yearMid-size portfolios
Hargreaves Lansdown0.45%/year£90/year£450/yearPremium full-service investors

That is why Interactive Investor is not a universal recommendation. It loses badly on cost against zero-fee platforms for small balances, but becomes much stronger once your ISA portfolio gets bigger and you want wider investment choice.

Our Verdict on Interactive Investor Fees

Interactive Investor is not the cheapest option for beginners or small portfolios. If you are starting with a few thousand pounds, the fixed monthly fee is too much friction.

But if you have a growing ISA portfolio and want access to shares, ETFs, funds, trusts and bonds on one platform, the picture changes. The Core plan is strong value by around £25,000–£50,000+, and excellent value for larger portfolios.

The real takeaway is simple: Interactive Investor is a portfolio-size decision. If your balance is small, go cheaper. If your balance is meaningful and you want a full-service platform, ii becomes far more compelling.
